The word “plagiarism” is derived from the Latin term “plagiare” This means to kidnap or abduct. Plagiarize is copy another person's idea, words or works and pretend that they are your own. Plagiarism usually discovered by scholars and researchers during the continuance of their research work. Plagiarism is one of the most severe violations of academic writing. Plagiarism may be of “self or duplicate Sometimes, duplicate publication called self-plagiarism will happen when an author reuses the content of one's own published work without citing the appropriate references.
Olites publishers follow strict policy in case of plagiarism within its purview. Before, during or after the publication process if the editorial board member, reviewer, author etc detects any element of plagiarism during editing or at a page proof stage, the authors are advised to provide proper reference citations. If more than 25% of the paper is plagiarized- the article may be rejected and the same is notified to the concerned author.
All the submitted manuscripts for publication are checked for plagiarism after submission and before starting review within 24hrs of time period.
The articles in which the plagiarism is identified are handled based on the percentage of the plagiarism
Please inform the editorial office by providing journal name, title of manuscript, author name, issue number, year of publication and other relevant information. We will handle the situation according to plagiarism policy.
Plagiarism is detected if greater than 30%, it is found that the authors are pleased to rewrite the article and submit the revised paper. However, we welcome the authors to do the required modification and resubmit the manuscript as a new submission.
The manuscript which clears the review process and gets published in the journal but later on detected to contain plagiarized content, the author's office and funding agencies are contacted. Each page of the PDF is marked and based on the extent of plagiarism; the article may be formally retracted
The manuscript that is submitted is understood to be unpublished work and is not considered for publication elsewhere. Duplicate publication of the submitted manuscript in whole or in parts will be considered as a breaching of plagiarism policy and is not welcome by the journal. Manuscripts submitted to the journal may be checked for originality using anti-plagiarism software.
Plagiarism also essentially violates the laws of copyright and one's original ideas, words and the unique expressions are seriously ill-represented.
The plagiarism is also extended to figures, tables, equations or illustrations, direct downloads from the internet without proper acknowledgement to the sources from which they are taken.
Self-plagiarism is a closely related topic. In this document we define self-plagiarism as the verbatim or near-verbatim reuse of significant portions of one's own copyrighted work without citing the original work. Self-plagiarism does not related to publications based on the contributor's own previously published and copyrighted work (e.g., visible in a conference proceedings) where a clear reference is prepared to the prior publication. Such reuse does not require quotation marks to delineate the reused text but does require that the source be cited.
At times, the authors may not aware that they are plagiarizing the content; nevertheless it is one's own responsibility to clearly demarcate the differences between paraphrasing and quoting exact words and citing with proper references. Sometimes, the authors knowingly borrow the ideas, contents from the other authors which constitutes blatant plagiarism.
Olites journals does not encourage plagiarism in any form, therefore, we strongly recommend that you thoroughly review your content before submitting it to any of our journals for publication. While there are several free plagiarism-checking tools available online, please note that they may not be entirely reliable."
