Copy Rights

Publishing Right refers to the right to publish a work. It is a type of copyright granted to a publisher who first publishes a previously unpublished work, after the original copyright of that work has expired.

Open Access by Olites Publishers is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that supports the legal sharing and reuse of creative works, whether copyrighted or in the public domain.

Under the terms of this license, readers have the following rights:

  • Share – Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt – Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially

In exceptional cases, articles may be licensed under terms different from the standard license. If you have specific conditions (such as funder requirements) that prevent the use of the standard license, please inform the Editorial Office at the time of submission. Any exceptions will be granted at the discretion of the publisher.

For previously published content, authors must obtain permission before submission to reproduce any material (e.g., figures, tables, text) that is not in the public domain or for which they do not hold copyright.

Permission is required for:

  • Your own previously published work where copyright is held by another publisher.
  • Substantial extracts from another author’s work or multiple works.
  • Use of tables, graphs, charts, schemes, or artworks that are either unaltered or only slightly modified.
  • Photographs for which you do not hold the copyright.

Permission is not required for:

  • Reconstructed tables using data that has been previously published elsewhere provided the original source is cited (e.g., “Data from…” or “Adapted from…”).
  • Very short quotations that fall under fair use.
  • Graphs, charts, schemes, or artworks that are entirely redrawn by the authors and significantly altered beyond recognition. Note: you may still need to check the copyright status of any underlying data.

Once permission is obtained, the copyright holder may specify a preferred format for acknowledgement. If not, we recommend the following format:

“Reproduced with permission from [author], [book/journal title]; published by [publisher], [year].”
